How does mutation in crypto prediction work?

Suppose our parent models both track on-chain wallet activity but ignore the U.S. inflation rate. A mutation might randomly add the “monthly U.S. CPI inflation rate” as a new feature or slightly tweak the learning rate for handling macro-economic shocks. That single adjustment could reveal alpha driven by shifts in dollar purchasing power, an edge the parents never captured.
